Servers

VPS hosting.

Guaranteed resources and root access, without paying for a whole physical machine.

What a VPS actually gives you

A virtual private server is a slice of a physical machine with resources reserved for you alone. Unlike shared hosting, the CPU and memory allocated to your server are not shared with whoever else is on the box, so your performance stays predictable regardless of what your neighbours are doing.

The other half is control. You get root or administrator access, choose the operating system, and install whatever the application needs — a specific PHP or Node version, a database tuned your way, a queue worker, a background service. None of that is possible on shared hosting.

Typical configurations

Sized to the workload rather than a fixed menu. These are the shapes most customers land on — we adjust from here.

Heavy

High-Resource VPS

Database-heavy applications, larger portfolios, or workloads with real concurrency.

  • High CPU and memory allocation
  • Storage sized for large databases
  • Performance tuning included
  • Clear path to a dedicated server
  • Priority support response
  • Extended backup retention
Talk about resources

We quote after understanding the workload. A server sized from a guess is either wasted money or an outage waiting to happen.

What people run on ours

  • Business web applications needing a specific runtime version.
  • Databases where consistent I/O matters more than shared-host economics.
  • WordPress and WooCommerce that have outgrown shared hosting.
  • Development and staging environments that mirror production properly.
  • Reseller portfolios too large for a reseller account.
  • Internal tools — ticketing, file services and reporting systems.

VPS questions

Linux or Windows?
Both are available. Linux suits most web applications, databases and open-source stacks. Windows Server is right for .NET applications, IIS-hosted sites, MSSQL or anything needing Active Directory integration. Windows licensing is included in the server cost.
Is backup included?
Backups are designed in as standard, kept off the server itself so that losing the server does not lose the backups with it. Retention is agreed with you rather than assumed.
Can you manage it for me?
Yes. Managed VPS covers OS patching, monitoring, hardening, backup verification and performance. Many customers take a VPS specifically because they want the control without the maintenance.
What happens if it goes down out of hours?
Managed servers are monitored continuously and alerts escalate to our engineers. The out-of-hours response arrangement is written into your agreement rather than left vague.
How is this different from cloud hosting?
In practice the terms overlap heavily. What matters is whether the resources are guaranteed, whether you have root, and who is responsible for the operating system. On our VPS the answers are: yes, yes, and either of us depending on whether you choose managed.

Need a server sized properly?

Tell us what it has to run and how much downtime it can tolerate. We'll spec it rather than guess.
